NAPOLI

Naples has always played a central role in the history of the southern Italy, which was the capital for eight centuries. As proof of his greatness, there are many architectural works dating back to many different periods: that's why it is considered a real open-air museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Center of the city is the Piazza Plebiscito, with the Royal Palace, seat of power since 1600. Behind it, there is Castel Nuovo, also known as Maschio Angioino, and Toledo street, center of the shopping and tourism with its palaces: Doria d'Angri Palace, the Church of the Holy Spirit, the east access of the Galleria Umberto I. Among the many religious buildings we remember the Church of St. Chiara and the Cathedral which houses the miraculous blood of S. Gennaro, the patron saint of the city, that, three times a year, melts and then coagulate again. Famous is also the market of the traditional crib of S. Gregorio Armeno. Naples has 33 historic gardens and parks open to the public. The Villa Comunale or Reale overlooks the waterfront and houses, as well as splendid statues,  a Zoological Station with the oldest aquarium in the world. A very impressive view is offered by the Virgilian Park in Posillipo that allows you to see the islands of Procida, Ischia, Capri, the Gulf of Pozzuoli, the Vesuvius, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the historic center of Naples. The beauty of the city continue below ground: it is possible to take guided tours in the underground of Naples, a major archaeological and historical evidence dating back to the greek-roman.

Mount Vesuvius

The Mount Vesuvius is a active explosive volcano that overlooks the Gulf of Naples. It is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world and also the most studied. The UNESCO has appointed the Mount Vesuvius one of the world's reserves of the biosphere. In the Vesuvius National Park there are well 612 plant species and 227 animal species. It is possible to walk along the many paths that, from the slopes, through beautiful forests, rise up to the mouth of the volcano, where you can enjoy a splendid view of the bay and city of Naples.
